Hi, I'm Mama T.
I was homeless for five years, some of those years in Denton, and now I do homeless ministry on the same streets I lived on. I show up for people the way I wish someone had shown up for me, with honesty, compassion, and real help when it matters.
About Mama T’s Butterflies
Mama T’s Butterflies is a grassroots nonprofit in Denton, Texas built from the work Mama T does every day for people experiencing homelessness. She runs a free store out of her apartment that provides clothing, blankets, hygiene items, food, and survival gear to anyone who needs it. She is also a free Narcan station for Denton and supplies individuals, families, and local businesses with lifesaving overdose reversal kits.
Mama T cooks and hands out emergency meals, hosts outreach events, and meets people where they are, whether they are on the streets, in camps, or coming out of jail. She keeps money on the books so people in the Denton County Jail can reach her, and she supports families who have lost loved ones. She speaks at Denton City Council to advocate for better resources and dignity for the unhoused.
